Because It Is Real Life...

This is a small section of my art room.
This is what the end of December looks like
when I've been a little bit busy.
I'm trying to get my December book finished
(maybe in January?)
and finish some lessons from the Yesterday/Today class
which ends tomorrow.

Looks like I also need to do some cleaning up.

This post was inspired by a conversation I had yesterday with my friend, Carla.
Blogs can tend to make life look a leetle-bit too perfect.
I'm here to tell ya that my art room is utter chaos.

The End.

This Here's What We Folks Do...

(cousin Kari from Alaska, Jake, Nick, & Jazmyne)

...out here in the boonies
after ridin' horses
and eatin' burgers and beans.

We hang spoons from our noses.

Some of us more easily
than others.

And attempt after attempt
will eventually lead to...

...sweet success.

Yep.
That's what we do.

It's a class act.
Really.

Balancing Act

Earlier this week we planned to use today to clean the carpets. We haven't had a free Saturday for a really long time, and we won't have one for another really long time. So today was it, the Clean The Carpets Day.

It is hard to use one's only free Saturday for such a task.

It would have been much more fun to sew a quilt. Or organize more photos. Or do some fun baking. Or go on a bike ride (the weather has been warm enough).

But the carpets needed to be cleaned. Especially in Jake's room since he had a bit of a bug this week and woke up at 4:30 AM and jumped out of bed and vomited. On the rug. Good thing today was already planned.

So, the carpets have been cleaned.

And the laundry and bed sheets have been washed (but our sheets still need to be put back on the bed...)

But.

The dishes have not been done.

See that red bowl? That was Jake's vomit bowl while he was sick. That was so he wouldn't vomit on the carpet any more. That needs to go through a really hot wash.

Real life, Folks. That's what we have going on around here.

Real Life.
