Gotta Love 'Em

This is my family.
My husband
and my sons
and my daughter.

Look at how short Doug and I seem to be.
I'm 5'9" and Doug is 6'1".
We aren't short people, fercryinoutloud!

Anyway, that's not the point.
This is the point:
I LOVE my family!
They are fine people
and I am so blessed to be with them.

Great kids.
Wonderful kids.
My kids!

I just wanted to share these reunion pictures with you
of my family.

Kinda makes you want to smile, doesn't it?!

How Did She Do It?

Growing up we lived in a lot of different places. My dad was an Air Force pilot and so we moved every few years. Texas-Oklahoma-Alabama-Nebraska-Massachusetts-New Jersey-Guam-California-Canal Zone, Panama. (Then without me they lived in Portugal and Delaware before retiring and moving back to California.) My parents made a wise decision early on when they bought a travel trailer (as they were called back then). Have trailer-will travel.

Our summer vacations were spent traveling around whatever part of the country we were living in, and seeing the sights and learning about the area.

I've been to a lot of battlegrounds and museums and monuments.

And when we moved, well, we'd travel and see the sights and have adventures along the way.

I always took these trips for granted. My parents would tell us what we were going to do and where we'd be going, and it just happened.

On the appointed day we'd get in the car and go. And when it was done we'd get out of the car and it was done.

Who got everything ready? Who loaded the car and trailer? Who unpacked everything? Who put it all away? Who cleaned out the trailer so it would be ready for the next trip?

My Mom? My Dad? My Mom and Dad?

I don't remember doing much of any of that. I'm hoping that we kids did do some of the work. But I suspect the majority of it was done by my mom.

We saw some amazing things. We went to some really cool places. I am sure this is where my love of history was born. It was a really good way to grow up.

But HOW did she do it?

I always feel like I have such a mountain to move whenever we go out of town. And I'm not even loading up a trailer. This week I'm just trying to get us to Snowbird!

She's pretty amazing, that Mom of mine.

Hey, Mom, would you mind telling me where all of these pictures were taken and maybe what the trip was about? Thanks!
