One Year Ago Today

A few days ago Abbie reminded me that it was almost one year since she had been baptized. Last year at this time we were in Hawaii having a wonderful family vacation. On Sunday, April 22, 2007, Abbie was baptized in the ocean by her brother, Fred.

Prior to our trip we had talked with our Bishop and made sure everything was in order. And so on Sunday afternoon we went out to the beach behind "our" little house, after all the locals had left, for this very special family experience.

Abbie had planned out her baptism program, so we sat on the beach and had a prayer and sang a song and shared our feelings and testimonies.

And then Abbie went down to the water to be baptized!

Fred had to try three times because waves would roll in and knock Abbie around and her foot would fly up out of the water! But eventually he succeeded.



Nick and Doug stood in the water as witnesses, and then they confirmed Abbie a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on the beach.

This was a sweet and simple way to participate in a very important ordinance and it was a special experience for our family.
