Snowbird-2008: The Week-end

We had a great family time at Snowbird over Father's Day. We all made it up (three separate groupings) on Saturday. Doug rode his bike (the pedal kind) up the mountain, all the way to Alta. The rest of us drove!

As an update on Nick: he felt that he wasn't making the kind of money he needed selling security systems, so he decided to come back to Utah to work. To save money he decided to ride the Greyhound Bus across the country-quite the adventure. He left DC on Wednesday afternoon and arrived in Provo the Friday night before Snowbird. So that was a fun little reunion with him up in the mountains!

Since Nick had been without his guitar for a few months, and without Fred-his guitar playing partner-there was a LOT of this going on:

And on:

And on (with Doug contributing on the ukulele):

Abbie, ever happy to have her big brother back, enticed him to a game of tennis (the view from the 9th floor balcony):

On Sunday I fixed a Father's Day brunch:

And we had some gifts for Doug which were delivered via a skateboard:

One gift was a story about Lance Armstrong, one of Doug's heroes, which was rather cute...

...and which Doug read out-loud to us.

Then there were the usual circus acts:

And did I mention that there was a lot of this going on...?

...to the point of a stupor?

But they sounded SO good!

Then as the weekend drew to a close, all the men-folk had to leave. Jake and Fred had Youth Conference during the week, Doug had to work, and Nick went back to Roosey to work for Fred (who would be at youth conference).

But there were still a few more antics to be had, this time between Nick and Jake...

Then the requisite Father's Day photo (minus Sammy)...

...with Jake giving us one of his renditions of Disneyland's Mr. Toad's Wild Ride expressions...

And then it was Girl Time! Abbie and I had one night alone before Elena came the next day. And Abbie picked up where her brothers left off, only with the ukulele.

I spend a lot of time sitting on the balcony looking at my mountain (that can be a story another time), and that night I watched the moon come over the mountain. It was stunningly beautiful.

And that is the end of the fun family weekend at Snowbird this year!
